Getting Started For Disc Golf Beginners
I know not all of you are newbies, but I figured I would start with some basic tips and suggestions to get the beginners up to speed.
First of all, you’ll need to locate your nearest disc golf course and disc golf store. You can find your nearest disc golf course by entering your zip code into the PDGA Course Directory. I don’t know of a disc golf store directory so I can’t help you there. You may not have a disc golf store nearby so you can order your discs online. I use Disc Nation for my disc purchases and I highly recommend them.
Before you buy your discs, you’ll want to know what to get. For beginners, I suggest the cheapest driver, mid-range, and putter you can find - one of each. I started out with an Innova Archangel, Innova Stingray, and Innova Aviar for my three discs. If you can get a few cheap (or free) used discs, that would work even better. Your discs will get pretty beat up as you practice your throws - I’ve hit hundreds of trees, and still do.
More disc golf tips tomorrow!

Hello, I have only been playing for a month now. And I enjoy the game a lot. Although the heat in Florida is difficult. I have a question though; in one of your statements for beginners u say to hold it with the thumb and forefinger outside of the disc. The couple I have been playing with say that isn’t the way. It is the way that I grew up with Frisbees so that feels more comfortable to me. Should I just stick to the comfortable way?
Also, my shots always curve to the left, I am right handed; is there a video online that I can watch to get my technique better?
I appreciate it if u can reply. I am really having fun but it would be more fun if I could do better. hahaha
Thank You,
Pat
