Just Too Hot

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. It’s been just too hot to disc golf. Most days have been over 100°F. I went a few days ago but we decided not to finish the whole course due to heat and lack of anything to drink.

I guess this is a decent disc golf tip - or at least a reminder: During the summer, it is a good idea to bring water with you in your disc golf bag. Even if you don’t drink it right away, you may forget to pack some water on another occasion.

And a note to self - stick an old rag in my disc golf bag for cleaning my discs if they fly into the creek. It’s not fun disc golfing with a muddy disc.

Kevin,

Nice site. I found it while searching through Google results for “disc golf blog.” Looks nice and has great content. I too am psychotically passionate about the game and have built a web site that I am trying to get the word out on. The site is www.discaroo.com. I’d love to know what you think. I just launched it today so don’t expect too many discs quite yet :)

Steve,
Awesome website idea! It looks like there’s not too many discs on your site yet, but I’m sure it will grow! I’ve got it bookmarked and I will definitely keep an eye on it.

Kevin,
Seems like you’re relatively new to the game like me. I’ve only been playing about 6 months and I’m completely addicted. One thing I found that really helped my grip was a clip on YouTube. If you type in “The Ultimate Disc Golf Show/FGCU clinic”, there’s a video of Ken Climo showing the best way to power grip the disc. I started using it, and after 8 or 9 rounds to get used to the new grip my distance and accuracy improved a lot. I recommend watching it to anyone wondering the best way to grip the disc on a drive.

Hi Kevin,
I like what you wrote last summer, any chance you’ll get this blog going again? I love reading about, writing about, (but mostly playing DG), I just started a blog at lifelongdiscgolf.com that’s beginning to come along, I’d love to hear any ideas you might have. Thanks!
